The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will largely come into force on 12 August 2026. It specifies minimum proportions of recycled material in plastic packaging. To ensure that this packaging can also be used safely for sensitive applications such as cosmetics, a safety assessment based on extensive analytical testing is required.

Reliable assessment of recycled plastics – precise analysis for PPWR compliance
Henkel Corporate Scientific Solutions offers a powerful range of methods for this purpose, including GC MS-based non-targeted screening to identify migrating organic contaminants. The validity of our screening strategy has been confirmed by our successful participation in the DRRR interlaboratory test ‘Contaminants in recycled plastic material – PHASE 2 (RVEP 259599)’.
We also offer testing for metal migration and verification of the total content of heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb) in accordance with PPWR using ICP-MS.
Our testing strategies provide you with scientifically sound, regulatory-compliant analysis results that enable the safe assessment of recycled plastics along the entire value chain.
